Cloth-bound children's nature book, Adam & Charles Black 1912, 57 illustrations (32 in colour); approx 25 x 19 cm, weight about 500 g.

A hardback nature book for boys and girls by C. von Wyss, published by Adam and Charles Black, London, 1912. The cloth-covered boards carry a colour pictorial onlay set within a printed architectural border, and the title page states the contents include fifty-seven illustrations, thirty-two in colour. The binding shows honest age, with rubbing to the board edges and spine ends and a partial separation of the inner hinge visible at the gutter. The colour plates remain bright and the lithographed scenes of gardens through the seasons are well preserved, offering lovely colour on the page. A characterful Edwardian volume that will sit well on a bookcase, dressing table or in a gardener's reference shelf, and a pleasant gift for anyone interested in illustrated garden books.
