A high-backed leather sling armchair, by Danish designer Ingmar Relling in the 1970's. Button-tufted seat and back cushions mounted on a stained hardwood frame. The cushions are held on a canvas sling beneath, secured to the frame with wide leather straps and timber slats, a construction that gives the chair its relaxed, suspended profile. The leather carries a rich, even colour and the surface shows the soft creasing and patina expected from regular use, which suits the chair’s informal lines. The timber frame has been stained a medium brown and the curved rear legs give the piece a pleasing silhouette. Handy in a reading corner, study or living room, it will suit anyone collecting mid century seating or looking for a relaxed, low-slung chair with presence.
