Antique, Linthorpe pottery and brass inkwell with cherub faces

About this piece

Linthorpe Art Pottery inkwell, featuring distinctive cherub or grotesque faces. The central pottery well is coated in a vibrant turquoise and green glaze typical of the Art Pottery workshop. It is heavily influenced by the aesthetic movement designs of Dr. Christopher Dresser, who served as the art superintendent for the pottery during its early years. The pottery element is encased in highly ornate, openwork brass mounts featuring a wide pierced base tray and a matching hinged or screw-top lid.
