Painted model trooper on horseback from the delPrado collection, labelled 'Trooper, Napoleon's Imperial Guard Chasseurs, 1809', 10 × 8.5 cm, weight about 300 g.

A small painted model from the delPrado collection, labelled on the underside "Trooper, Napoleon's Imperial Guard Chasseurs, 1809" together with the delPrado logo. The mounted rider wears a fur busby and pale blue tunic, holding his carbine upright. The end of the rifle has been lost over time, but does show it is made of lead. The horse is modelled in white with a leopard-pattern saddlecloth edged in orange, and the sculpting picks out tack, sabre and accoutrements in modest scale. The figure appears to be painted metal and stands on a shaped metal base. The paintwork is bright and the decorative detail is neatly hand finished; there is minor paint loss to some high points and light rubbing to the reins and edges, shown in the photographs. A compact, colourful example for a cabinet of toy soldiers, a small military display, or as a shelf accent in a study or sitting room.
