Resin phrenology head with incised numbered and lettered panels, probably mid 20th century. 19 x 14 x 32.5 cm, about 2.4 kg.

A resin bust model of a human head marked with incised, numbered and lettered panels across the scalp in the classic phrenological grid. The surface is a pale, matt cream with the numerals and grid picked out by shallow carving and slight darkening within the recesses. It stands on a square plinth base and the eyes and features are simply modelled in a sober, scientific style. The piece appears to be resin and probably dates to the mid 20th century. A conversation piece for a study, library or cabinet of curiosities, it will suit a collector of medical ephemera or someone looking for a scholarly accent for a mantel or shelf.
