Tall West German stoneware floor vase, c. 1960s, 70s, 41 cm high, speckled sand glaze with dark spiral decoration and a broad rolled lip.

A tall West German stoneware floor vase, probably Mid 20th century, standing 41 cm high. The body is finished in a speckled sand coloured glaze with a band of dark, glossy spiral motifs around the shoulder and a broad, rolled lip that gives the piece a strong silhouette. The glaze shows the thick, blistered textures often seen on West German pottery, with an attractive contrast between matt and glossy surfaces. The base has an impressed factory stamp that includes the word KERAMIK and W. GERMANY. No chips or cracks are visible to the rim or body and the interior is glazed. Practical as a free standing floor vase for tall stems, or as a sculptural object in a hall or on a low plinth, it will suit anyone after a bold mid century pottery presence.
