Collection only, from our Leominster shop

A pair of cast gilt metal easel picture frames, ornate Rococo revival carving, fitted with original glass, bare size about 35 x 23 cm, weight about 3.2 kg for the pair.

A matched pair of cast gilt metal easel picture frames, probably Victorian in date and worked in a Rococo revival manner. Each stands on three foliate feet with a swept supporting leg and carries a pierced, heavily modelled surround with floral scrolls, a central cherub mask and a cresting motif with heraldic axe, sword and helmet. Bare measurements are about 35 cm tall by 23 cm across. Both retain their original glass. The metal interior shows signs of use with areas of discolouration and foxing consistent with age, and the gilt finish has taken on a warm, mellow tone. One back panel carries an old paper label. The frames stand well and make an immediate decorative statement around a small portrait or cabinet print. Handsome on a dressing table, mantel or sideboard, they will suit collectors of Victorian metalwork or anyone looking for a pair of characterful display frames. As these items are heavy, collection would be better than posting.
