A small cast brass desk box, dating to the Victorian period. The piece sits on four bracket feet and carries an all over Rococo inspired cast decoration on the base and the hinged lid. The lid lifts to reveal two shallow rectangular compartments suitable for stamps, seals or small keepsakes. Overall dimensions are 14.5 x 8 x 4 cm and the bare weight is about 400 g. There is some green verdigris visible inside around the hinge and seams, a single noteable point of age, and the hinge is intact with the lid sitting neatly when closed. The casting retains good relief and the gilt tone remains attractive across the surface. Handy as a decorative desk or dressing table box for small stationery items, seals or jewellery, and well suited to a period writing table or cabinet of curiosities.
